The Smurfs
The Smurfs originally came to life as a series of comic strips in 1958, but are best known in the Western world by the animated television series from Hanna-Barbera Productions.
Although all Smurf characters look essentially identical, some have additional accessories that identify their personalities. They inhabit a peaceful village of mushroom houses in an enchanted forest, run by Papa Smurf.
Life in the would be carefree if it wasn’t for the evil wizard Gargamel and his vicious cat Azrael, both who occupy an old stone house in the forest. As such, the series tends to center around the adventures of the Smurfs and their efforts at fighting off Gargamel, who seeks to destroy them.
It ran from September 12th, 1981 up until December 2nd, 1989 and had a total of 256 half-hour episodes.
