The Flintstone Kids was an hour long cartoon spin-off of The Flintstones. This series covered the lives and adventures of Fred, Wilma, Barney and Betty when they were 8 – 10 year olds. Dino was also included in this series. The show ran from 1986 – 1988 on ABC, and was produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions, who also handled the original series of The Flintstones. The stars of the spin-off were characters from the original series. These younger versions of the characters were a lot like their adult counterparts. The Flintstones Kids was made up of 24 half hour episodes.
There were discrepancies in the show, however. The way that Fred and Wilma met was given in two different ways. In one episode, viewers are led to believe that they met as teenagers and went to high school together. Yet another episode had them meeting as young adults. In addition, Wilma’s last name seemed to change. In one episode, her last name was given as Slaghoople, while in another it was stated as Pebble. It stayed as Slaghoople.
Despite the changes and discrepancies, The Flintstones Kids enjoyed quite a nice little run in its own right. Many adults watched it right along with their children.
