TaleSpin is one of my favorite cartoons of all time and is a spin-off of The Jungle book. It aired from 1990 to 1994, had 65 episodes and ran 22 minutes an episode. TaleSpin actually means “rapid descent of an aircraft going down in a spiral” and the word Tale actually was taken from the earlier series DuckTales.

Launchpad McQuack from DuckTales was supposed to be the star of the series however they decided to base it off Baloo from the jungle book which is fine by me considering Launchpad can be seen in other cartoons such as Darkwing Duck.

The story takes place in a city called Cape Suzette, a town which is guarded by high cliffs with only a small opening for planes and other aircraft to get out. Anti-aircraft guards the cliff opening to prevent air pirates from entering the city.

Based in the 1930’s and focusing on its main character Baloo the bear who owns a fledging air cargo business. It’s eventually purchased by Rebecca Cunningham who calls the new business Higher for Hire. Earlier in the series Baloo meets Kit Cloudkicker a former pirate and becomes Baloos navigator.

Baloo and Kit agree to work for Rebecca since she now owns Baloos beloved plane the Sea Duck. They go on wild adventures delivering cargo or following Rebecca’s latest money making scheme.

Yes, Talespin is a great cartoon 🙂
If you like it, you should consider buying the Talespin DVD (two DVD packs have been released so far).
