Maya the Bee

Created by the Nippon Animation Company in early 1975, Maya the Bee originally was aired in Japan. Maya had 55 episodes and ran from 1975 – 1976 only in Japan, it wasn’t till 1982 when it first aired in North America.

In 1979 the Nippon Animation Company decided to create a second series called The New Adventures of Maya the Honeybee. They used the same characters design that they used in the first series, however this series only lasted 52 episodes.

Maya the Bee is basically about a young bee that is very adventurous and loves to meet new friends. She has many adventures around the forest where she lives and meets lots of nice insects whom also live in the forest along with her.

The Queen Bee is very impressed with her at how she gathers so much pollen that she sends Maya further away from the hive in search of more to bring back. This is where she meets new insects and goes on her many adventures.

It wasn’t until 1990 that Maya the Bee could be seen in North America. Like Samurai Pizza Cats, Maya the Bee is an anime television series.
