Captain Caveman

Touted as the world’s first super hero, Captain Caveman burst on to the cartoon scene on September 10,197. Created by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, Cavey, as the Teen Angels Brenda, Dee Dee and Taffy renamed him, was a prehistoric caveman frozen in a block of ice.

Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels was produced as a Saturday morning animated series by Hanna-Barbera Productions. The concept for this production was a spoof of Charlie’s Angels. Similarities can be seen on other Hanna-Barbera productions, like Scooby-Do.

Cavey, who is eons old with many talents, has different objects concealed underneath his scraggy fur, allowing Cavey to fly. Equipped with tools he needs to fight crime, he jumps into battle with his yell of ” Captain CAAAAAVEMAAAAANNN!!! whose voice is provided by the talented Mel Blank.

Always accompanied by his Angels, Brenda, who is afraid of anything that moves, DEE DEE, a very intelligent African American who solves the mysteries with Taffy, the blonde who has the ability to talk Cavey into anything, and cries Zowie when she has an idea, Cavey faces the crime culprits.
