Bonkers

Bonkers

Jim Cummings who voiced Darkwing Duck also voiced Bonkers in the Disney series Bonkers. The series ran from 1993 to 1995 previewing on The Disney Afternoon, it had 4 seasons with 54 episodes. Bonkers was taken off the air in 2004.

Believe it or not the series actually was an attempt to create an animated series based on the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit but never pulled though because of legal issues. Instead of scrapping the show they changed the characters around and kept the idea of toons living with humans.

Bonkers is a bobcat that worked in show business however he soon lost his place in show business and decided to become a cop. Once he became a cop he was partnered with Lucky Piquel who hated the idea of having a toon as his partner.

Bonkers tried to get his partner to accept him and like him however his antics proved otherwise and usually messed things up or made them worse. You can see from the description that the show is already much like Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Bonkers eventually got a new partner who was named Miranda Wright in the episode called New Partners on the block. Miranda accepted Bonkers for who he is more than his last partner.

Great post, but you have one little thing wrong. The Miranda episodes were actually created before the Lucky episodes and were aired on the Disney Channel. When the show premiered in prime time redone with Lucky, they added a sloppy episode that attempted to explain Miranda’s presence so that they could air the old episodes along side with the new.
