Created by Disney and based off of their 1992 movie titled the same name Aladdin, the series ran from 1994 to 1996. The series basically starts off where their second Aladdin movie The Return of Jafar left off.
Aladdin started off on The Disney Afternoon show usually on Saturday mornings usually running for about 22 minutes. The series had a total of 86 episodes that ran for the two years the show was on the air. On an interesting note Dan Castellaneta filled in for Robin Willams to take on the role of Genie.
Aladdin is basically the story of a poor man living on the streets. With no money he is forced sometimes to take from the rich merchants but he also shares with his fellow street people. Aladdin has a pet monkey named Abu.
In love with the princess he eventually finds a magic lamp that changes his life around, soon after he meets Princess Jasmine and the series is basically their adventures together with their friends Genie, Abu, Carpet and Iago.
This was always one of my favorite cartoons usually coming on around the time of TaleSpin on the Disney channel. It’s just as good if not better then the movies it’s based off of.
